Wow! This volume shows me digging out boxes of cds from around 20 years ago - the Borders Days - and here is some major stuff I haven't played for a long time (in their cd form, anywayz). Stripper Kay Martin is back with her Body Guards to sing some songs (and, of course, she'll be back next Christmas with her classic Christmas album)! And there's the Sons of the Pioneers Ultimate Collection; one of my favourite cds I snagged back in the Borders days; I may even have paid money for it since I don't think it was s demo). And Look! There's Biff Bailey himself from DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS (Roy Castle) with his album of 'rainy songs'. After the Cheeky request about a year ago for Smothers Brothers stuff, I finally dug out AESOP'S FABLES THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS WAY: one of my lifelong faves that I've been listening to since I was a wee pup. All three Steve Martin comedy albums were a big part of many a road trip cerpts tape and it's been a while. Miss ya, Paul. And finally there's PALE BLUE SCOTTISH PERSON! The HBO Billy Connolly comedy special was one of the first things Cheeks put on a Video Cerpts for me! AH, Don Reese. The horror comedian. This cd I got autographed by the big man when he performed at my very first horror convention MONSTER MANIA back in 2002. This first one was at the Clarion and, despite zero parking, it's still my favourite. Well, it was my first horror convention. But never has the guest list been equaled. This is where I first met and chatted with Caroline Munro and got her autograph. Unusually for me, I talked with her for quite a little while. Then later that evening, the big ballroom featured a comedy stand-up by Don Reese. I entered the ballroom and made my way all across the room until I was stage right of him. A little into Don's stand-up, Caroline Munro entered the room and surprisingly she wended her way aallllllllll the way over to where I was standing and stood right next to me for the entire show. Obviously, she had fallen madly in love with me and wanted to stand next to me! Or else, I was the only non-rabid, sane-seeming fan she had met that day and felt safer standing with me. Nah, she was definitely in love with me! The SATAN IS REAL album cover is just simply one of the greatest album covers of all time and I sought it out from the time I saw it in the RE/SEARCH: INCREDIBLY STRANGE MUSIC books in the mid-90s. And finally, the SOMETHING COOL mono version of June Christy's all-time classic IS the best version. The cd I have of this album features both the mono and stereo version but, sadly, the stereo album is re-recorded and nowhere near as much of a masterpiece as the mono version. Hence the mono version is here. Whoops, it looks like those sparrows are starting to fly so I'll leave you for now. TTFN.
